Tis the season .. Crochet Season!

‘Tis the season .. Crochet Season . . .

As soon as the heat of summer lifts, crocheters everywhere begin seeking out their favorite Fall projects. It’s got to be our favorite time of year!

Time to begin working on holiday gifts we were supposed to start in July so we don’t find ourselves hooking at 11pm on Dec.24 trying to put the final touches on the last of our gifts.

How does that happen to us every year?

Crochet Happy Logo on Yarn Obsession Guest PostI’ll tell you how it happens..

First come the Shawls to tempt us with their grace, comfort and utter gorgeousness! How to pick just one to make? We know we only have time for one because…

..Halloween is just around the corner and we are in full-swing hooking monster hats, caldron candy bowls and webbed wrist warmers.

Cold season hits and all the school-age kids must have a crocheted tissue box, an anti-bacterial gel bottle cozie and a chapstick zipper pull..it’s a must!

It’s a frenzy from there as we tell ourselves that we have plenty of time to work up holiday gifts and have them ready for Christmas gift-giving…as soon as we are done squeezing in a turkey table topper for Thanksgiving and maybe a couple of Gobbler earflap hats…oh and the kiddos have got to have pumpkin hats and booties! Open-mouthed smile

Meanwhile, the coolest new hat designs of the season have been showing up on all of our favorite crochet sites since September and we’ve been chomping at the bit to get started on them. I can’t wait to make 2..or 3-ish (can’t stop at 3 and end up with 5)…with matching fingerless gloves! They can double as Christmas gifts for friends & family Open-mouthed smile right?

Then the snow comes and we begin thinking about that unfinished afghan project that has been waiting all those warmer months to be pulled out of the stash and worked again..but instead, we start another brand new afghan project because we just can’t resist that beautiful new pattern we found!

OMG~ It is the first day of December and only 25 days remain to finish those GIFTS!  How did this happen to us again this year?!  Crochet Obsessed on Yarn Obsession

Well .. it’s because we love everything about Crochet Season and we can’t stand to let a minute of it pass us by! It’s in our nature.

And yes .. we will be awake at 11pm Dec.24th working with full hearts and very tired eyes and fingers to finish that last project before midnight..or maybe 1am.

But next year ‘I swear I am starting next years gift projects in JANUARY’ so I have plenty of time!

–That sounds familiar somehow…I think maybe I have spoken those very same words before Smile
